The seventh and final tool to help you cement big changes in your life is about rewriting the story you tell yourself about your life. When people are in the midst of transitions, they usually think of themselves in terms of what they used to be; for example, I was happily married or I was a successful professional.
Rewrite this into a story of overcoming obstacles or of rebirth-I used to be that. Now I am this. Example: A medal winning Paralympian, Chris Waddell, set out to be the first paraplegic to climb Mount Kilimanjaro but about 100 feet from the summit, he realized he could not navigate the big boulders with his four wheel mountain bike. The other members of his team carried him to the summit. Waddell was initially defeated by what he saw as a failure until he rewrote his story from “I set out to climb a mountain unassisted and I failed” to “Nobody climbs a mountain alone.”
Making and succeeding at big changes in your life is all about what you tell yourself. If you can change the way you talk to yourself, you can change your life. Both hypnosis and life coaching are great tools to help with making life changes.
