Some additional considerations for living a long life include the following:
Learn how to get yourself unstuck. There will always be times that even productive, positive-minded people feel stuck like when things are not going well and they can’t see a solution. Usually one is stuck because they are not looking for opportunities and that is something that you can change. Some ways to see past a difficult situation include: interacting with other people, as many as possible. Sometimes others can shed light on a different path or further illuminate the one you are on. Also look for the lesson in your situation. “Everything is my teacher” mindset shifts our attention away from whatever difficulty we are facing toward life and purpose. Perhaps it helps you find a different purpose.
Dwell in gratitude. Researchers have found that gratitude is good for the heart. Patients who are thankful for the good things in their lives have lower levels of markers related to cardiac health problems. They tend to sleep better too. Focus on what you have and what you’ve gained. Do not take certain wonders for granted. We are surrounded by wonders. What things are you grateful for? Keeping a gratitude diary has been shown to engender both physical and mental benefits. There are many such diaries that can be found on Amazon. I have certainly lost some of my agility as I have gotten older but I am thankful that I can still ride a bike or walk a mile.
If you need help with gratitude and keeping a diary or you feel stuck, life coaching and in many cases, hypnosis might be able to help. I am happy to talk to you about it at [email protected] or 361.442.9590.
